2017 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games Volunteer Recruitment Launch
Brantford and the County of Brant, ON – The best para-athletes in Ontario will be in the City of Brantford and the County of Brant for the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games from February 10 to 12, 2017. The Games Organizing Committee has launched a recruitment drive to secure volunteers..
“When Brantford and the County of Brant submitted the bid to host the games, one of the key components was the quality and willingness of our volunteer community to provide instrumental support for a successful event,“ says Russell Press, Coordinator of Tourism & Development, County of Brant. “Now it’s time to call on those volunteers to be a part of something so special it will be remembered with pride for generations.”
There are many ways to participate and get involved in the games. Volunteer opportunities include: assisting with sporting events, registration, opening ceremonies, and many other tasks. Those interested in volunteering are asked to visit www.parasportwintergames2017.ca or to call 519-751-9900.
The 100-Days Out event is set for Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre and North Park Collegiate. Plans for the event are underway to gear up for the games and showcase some of the sports involved. Local high schools are submitting teams to compete in sport demos including Sledge Hockey, Goalball and Sitting Volleyball.
The 100-Days Out event will also unveil the medal design that will be featured on the face and back of the medals handed out at the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Winter Games. The medal design competition is open and currently accepting submissions until September 30, 2016.
